Invitation to the 2nd International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA 2012)
In response to the ever increasing interests and technological developments in environmentally friendly energy systems, the Organizing Committee is pleased to welcome you to the 2nd International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA 2012) which will be held at Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, 25-27 June 2012. EFEA is a forum for bringing academics, scientists, engineers and industrial partners together to discuss the recent developments in the areas of environment friendly energies and their applications.
The 1st EFEA event was held in Ghardaïa, Algeria in 2010 and was mostly dedicated to electrical applications, and, as such, was disseminated as the International Symposium on Environmental Friendly Energies and Electrical Applications (EFEEA2010).

The first event was mostly sponsored by the Universities of Médéa, Tlemcen, Boumerdès, École Nationale Polytechnique, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Energy and Mines of Algeria. With around 250 participants, the conference was very successful and included 4 plenary sessions, 2 keynote speeches, 3 best paper prizes and 4 travels grants were given.

Based on the request of the participants, the steering committee has decided to broaden the scope of this second event to include some topics, other than those directly related to electrical applications, such as energy policy and security, biofuel, geothermal energy as well as lifelong learning and professional development in renewable energy and much more. The main theme of this symposium is on renewable and sustainable energy systems, hybrid transportation systems and energy security. For further information on the scope of the conference see Topics. Additionally, a mini workshop on solar cells technology and hybrid vehicles will be held on the 24th of June 2012 for interested registrants.
Specifically, the symposium will be held at Northumbria University at Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in the city campus east.

The city campus of Northumbria University is located at the centre of Newcastle. The city of Newcastle upon Tyne is situated in the northeast of England on the north bank of the River Tyne. Together with its neighbouring town Gateshead, on the south bank of river Tyne, they form a single, diverse and extremely vibrant visitor destination and conference venue.  It has a world-class culture, vibrant nightlife, award-wining restaurants, inspiring heritage and architecture including fantastic accommodation facilities and shopping complexes.
